Nomination Criteria

Each nominee will be required to complete a short and relevant submission on the category for which they nominated. The 'Guidelines', 'Entry Form' and 'Statement of Claims' documents are available on the entry details page or nominees / Firms may contact the REINT for a copy.

These submissions normally only require the nominee to provide base information on their professionalism and ideals, plus collect evidence of accomplishments and work completed. These submissions should be succinct and contain only relevant information according to the criteria.

Rules of Entry

REINT is now calling for nominations by the Principal of each Member Firm. Nomination in the REINT - Westpac Awards for Professional Excellence is FREE of charge and entries must be lodged with the REINT before the closing date specified. The nomination form must be accompanied by all relevant documentation. Where required, additional supporting material may be sent via email to the REINT but must comply with the specifications in the Entry Form and Guidelines.

All nominees are strongly encouraged to attend the presentation evening for the Awards on Saturday 21 August 2010.

Judging

Judging in each category is conducted by a judging panel comprising Real Estate professionals and related experts, all of whom are, and remain throughout the process, impartial. The judging panel reserves the right to request additional information from Nominees and the decision of the panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Three finalists will be selected from each category to be interviewed, either face to face or by phone, by the panel for them to select the overall winner.

Award Categories

Large Agency (Residential) of the Year Award

This Award is for large Agencies with more than ten (10) Licensed or Registered Agents and judges will be looking at aspects including:

  • Service to clients
  • Business Plan
  • Human Resource Management
  • Ethical Standards

Small Agency (Residential) of the Year Award

As with the former award, this Award is for smaller Agencies with ten (10) or less Licensed or Registered Agents. Again

  • Service to clients
  • Business Plan
  • Human Resource Management
  • Ethical Standards

Commercial Agency of the Year

This award recognises excellence in agency practice. It covers the commercial sector, including small, medium and large agencies. The agency may have multiple offices in one city of regional location, and may be part of a national franchise group.

It looks at key areas such as:

  • Agency achievements
  • Business development plan
  • Professional development plan
  • Marketing
  • Significant sales and/or property management, and
  • Service to clients

Residential Sales Person of the Year

This award recognises excellence in selling and is intended for individuals rather than agencies. It covers individuals working as principals, licensed agents, agents representatives or sales consultants; in the residential sector; small, medium and large agencies; and independent or franchise agencies.

Residential Property Manager of the Year Award

Commercial / Industrial Property Manager of the Year Award

Body Corporate Manager of the Year Award

Support Staff of the Year Award

This category is designed for all employees of Members offices who are not engaged as Sales Staff or Property Managers, their role would be one of general support within the office (eg Bookkeepers, Receptionists, Personal Assistants etc.)

Innovation Award

This award recognises innovation in the industry. Nominees must be agencies, not individuals and your submission seeks to explore innovations made in your business and its contribution to your success in the past year.

Applicants will be required to describe how the innovation has improved thier business efficiency, any budget implications as a result of the innovation and how this has been managed, also what work was undertaken internally by your staff or by external service providers and overall how this innovation has benefited the wider real estate industry.

Achievement Award

This award recognises excellence amongst newcomers to the industry (within two years of date of initial licensing or registration) in either the residential or commercial sectors.

Nominees must have held their licence or registration for no more than two years. They may work in either the residential or commercial sectors, and in either sales or property management.

The submission will need to address areas such as:

  • Commitment to quality customer service
  • Displays of initiative
  • Good understanding of office and legislative standards applicable to the position, and
  • Career and professional objectives

Auctioneer of the Year Award

Nominees will be required to conduct a real estate auction on a specified property in accordance with all correct procedures. All auctioneer nominees will be auctioning the same property and points awarded by a panel of judges. The top-ranked Auctioneer will then be asked to conduct a mock auction on the night of the Awards.

Auctioneer Idol

Auctioneer Idol is designed to get the real estate industry interested in the exciting world Auctioneering!

This category is for anyone employed in the real estate industry that has NEVER conducted an auction it gives you a chance to test your skills and for some, maybe begin a new career path in Auctioneering.

Award Winners

Winners of awards will receive a trophy to recognise their achievement in that category. All Finalists will receive a Certificate of Recognition.

Winners of awards are encouraged to use and promote their achievements, however when they do so they are required to identify the category of their award and the year in which the award was achieved.

All award winners (where applicable) will automatically have the right to enter the national Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) Awards for Excellence, where they can compete with award winners from other States and Territories.
